SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, recently hosted local Imam Nazir Chahin of the Islamic Society of the Northwest Suburbs (ISNS) to perform the invocation for the House of Representatives in Springfield.

“It was a great pleasure hosting Imam Chahin to give the invocation for a session day,” Walker said. “The Imam is a highly respected member of the Muslim community in the Northwest suburbs. I thank him for all the work he and the other members of ISNS do for their faith and for our communities.”

Founded in 1974, ISNS is a full-service mosque based in Rolling Meadows with members from around the Northwest suburbs. In addition to its prayer schedule, ISNS also offers religious education, community connection events and other activities for members and non-members alike. In Springfield, Representatives routinely invite religious and secular leaders from their communities to perform the invocation opening each session day.

“It’s always exciting to bring a part of the communities I represent down to Springfield,” Walker said. “I’m proud of the diversity in my district and believe that representation matters. I’m glad Imam Chahin could share his wisdom and talents with the House and look forward to working with him and ISNS in the future.”
