ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is inviting residents to a town hall on clean energy and the Illinois Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) on Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, located at 500 N. Dunton Ave. This event will also feature representatives from clean energy and organizations such as the Illinois Environmental Council, the Sierra Club, the Citizens Utility Board and Elevate.
“Illinois has quickly become one of the nation’s leaders in fighting climate change and advancing energy efficiency,” Walker said. “This town hall is a great opportunity to learn more about the exciting opportunities provided by the Future Energy Jobs Act and what will be expanded upon once we pass the Clean Energy Jobs Act. I’m glad to co-host with state Senator Ann Gillespie and great organizations like the Illinois Environmental Council.”'
House Bill 3624, also known as the Clean Energy Jobs Act, would place Illinois on a path to 100% renewable energy while growing the green economy. CEJA improves on the Future Energy Jobs Act, passed in 2016, to cut carbon from the power sector by 2030 and create high-quality, high-paying jobs. Walker has spearheaded this legislation because of its economic and infrastructure components in addition to making Illinois a leader on fighting disastrous climate change.
“The Clean Energy Jobs Act is a great bill as far as I’m concerned,” Walker said. “It creates jobs just like the Future Energy Jobs Act did and they’re jobs of the future. They’ll help communities from here in the Northwest Suburbs to Chicago to communities downstate as well.
