Walker Responds to Governor’s Address, Underscores Need to Invest in Services Families Depend on

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, issued the following statement Wednesday after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s annual budget address:

“As we continue to address the challenges of this pandemic, I’m focused on making sure we are investing responsibly in job creation, education, public safety and services that families depend on. I have supported and remain committed to a balanced fiscal approach that can provide relief to taxpayers, while ensuring those most in need get the help they deserve.

“I am particularly interested in reviewing how the governor intends to boost support for our small and local businesses. If we want to come out of this pandemic stronger, we have to create a climate that emphasizes education funding and encourages job creation.

“We have an opportunity this year to make decisive investments that can build a stronger Illinois for all residents. I look forward to taking a close look at the governor’s proposal, and will be engaging local leaders and stakeholders to make sure our area’s interests are well represented.”
