Walker Reminds Students of College Financial Aid Resources through ISAC

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is reminding local students and parents of college-going and financial aid resources from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) still available during the COVID-19 health crisis.

“In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, ISAC has been unable to operate in-person workshops and presentations for prospective college students,” Walker said. “Still, they are working to bring resources to families by being available through phone and by email. I encourage those with questions to check it out.”

ISAC has set up a resource webpage at https://www.isac.org/covid-19/ that centralizes information on financial aid, college planning, student loan repayment and other higher education developments in response to COVID-19. Students can also look up and receive free, one-on-one assistance from an Illinois Student Assistance Corps (ISACorps) member at https://studentportal.isac.org/isacorps. ISACorps members are recent college graduates that can provide advice on applying to college, scholarship searches, FAFSA completion, student financial aid and other issues.

“The uncertainty caused by this pandemic is creating tough decisions for families on what they should do heading toward the fall,” Walker said. “It can be helpful to talk to the experts from ISAC to get a better grasp of what options are available when it comes to college, particularly in this environment.”
