ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is highlighting the new Help is Here feature on the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (DHS) website aimed at streamlining access to services for those in need of assistance with housing, health care, food security and more.
“As we face an unprecedented public health crisis, residents around the state are experiencing new and unexpected challenges,” Walker said. “For those who do not know where to start, it may be helpful for them to visit dhs.illinois.gov/helpishere.”
DHS’ Help is Here webpage highlights options and resources for securing food, emergency lodging, child care, domestic violence assistance, Medicaid help, mental health services, suicide prevention and more. Individuals who are in need of unemployment assistance can also visit the Illinois Department of Employment Security’s website at https://www2.illinois.gov/ides to file a claim. Up to date general information on the state’s response to COVID-19 can be found at coronavirus.illinois.gov.
“This crisis is going to take its toll on the mental health of many,” Walker said. “I’m thankful for the hard work and dedication from our mental health professionals who are assisting those in need. If you find yourself in need of assistance, please use the resources that are available from our state and community partners. Let’s all try to get through this as healthy as possible.”
