PALATINE, Ill. – Reflecting his commitment to helping those in need, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, recently delivered the clothes his office collected during his Warm Clothing Drive to Journeys The Road Home, a local shelter helping those experiencing homelessness and near homelessness. Walker also donated his salary increase to the organization.

“Journeys does such important work helping those in need in our communities,” Walker said. “We had a hugely successful Warm Clothing Drive throughout November. I appreciate all who donated, and would especially like to thank our area chapter of the League of Women Voters and the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect libraries for partnering with my office on this important donation drive.”

Thanks to the generosity of 53rd District residents, Walker delivered to Journeys over a dozen large bags filled with hats, gloves, scarves, coats and other winter essentials. Walker also donated his recent salary increase to Journeys.

“I went to Springfield to do the work of my constituents, not help politicians get ahead,” Walker said. “I did not support this year’s salary increase and decided to donate it to Journeys to support their mission. Housing insecurity in the northwest suburbs is a real problem, and I’m committed to building a stronger Illinois by ensuring we help all who need it.”
