Rep. Walker, Sen. Gillespie Offer Pfizer Vaccine Event with Mount Prospect Partners

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – To continue fighting the spread of COVID-19, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, and state Sen. Ann Gillespie, D-Arlington Heights, are offering a free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination event in coordination with the Mount Prospect Park District, Mount Prospect Public Library, and the Village of Mount Prospect Human Services Department. The event will take place at Mount Prospect’s RecPlex, located at 420 W. Dempster St. in Mount Prospect, on Saturday, June 12.

“While we are on the right track to eliminating the COVID-19 virus, too many Illinoisans have still not received a vaccine,” Walker said. “We know that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and very effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19 and any associated serious illness. I’m thankful to our community partners for helping us reach those who have yet to receive a vaccine.”

“Thankfully, we are on track to fully reopen our state, but that doesn’t mean we can drop our guard against this pandemic,” Gillespie said. “The Pfizer vaccine is effective. A vaccinated community is vital if we are to end this pandemic and fully recover. I’m glad our offices were able to team up with our Mount Prospect partners to better reach out to our residents and host this event at an accessible site.”

The first dose of the two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be administered on June 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RecPlex. Online registrations are encouraged at bit.ly/3v1JZwY. The second dose will be administered on Saturday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will schedule their second dose when they arrive for their first dose. Both doses are offered free of charge and attendees will not need to provide a photo ID or proof of citizenship.

According to the CDC and FDA, the Pfizer vaccine is approved for those 12 years old and older and is 95% effective at preventing severe cases of COVID-19 and 100% effective at preventing hospitalization due to the virus.
