ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, recently visited John Hersey High School and congratulated them on their recognition by Newsweek Magazine as one of the nation’s best schools for STEM education.

“Our area schools have a longstanding tradition of excellence,” Walker said. “Hersey’s recognition as being a top STEM school in the country is just one example. Supporting our schools through initiatives like increased teacher salaries and expanding access to programs like STEM and career and technical education benefits our area and our state.”

Other area schools recognized by Newsweek include Prospect High School and St. Viator High School. The results were calculated by analyzing data from 2015-2019 on the quality of STEM education and each school’s ability to prepare students for post-secondary outcomes.
